About CR Baskets

These beautiful “Bolga” baskets brought to you by our company, CR Baskets, are hand-woven by artisan crafters (mostly women) in Bolgatanga, Ghana, using time-honored techniques and motifs passed down from mother to daughter. They are crafted from thick, tough, native Vera Vera (elephant) grass, which is plentiful and fast-growing in Bolgatanga. Most baskets have a leather handle for comfort and durability. Each durable, practical work of art requires two days of masterful hand weaving to create a one-of-a-kind basket.

You will find that CR Baskets are practical, sustainable, and made to stand up to many years of use! Perfect for hauling goodies home from the Farmers Market, these lovely baskets are also wonderful for home décor, looking gorgeous while keeping your environment organized and clutter-free.

Due to variations in hand weaving, measurements are approximate, and hand-dyed colors may vary slightly, enhancing the unique beauty of each basket. The unique “Bolga” basket that you choose to purchase from CR Baskets is the product that will be delivered to you.

The people of Bolgatanga have, for generations, relied on weaving as a major source of income. When you purchase a basket from our company, you can be assured that a portion of the proceeds will be returned to the Bolgatanga weavers to help sustain this thriving community of artists.

We know that you will enjoy your CR Basket for years to come. On behalf of the talented artists in Bolgatanga, we thank you for your purchase.
